Repairing products Marmoline

Repair of cracks in the masonry (contact with columns, beams) and restoration of plasters.


Most of the buildings in Greece are made of reinforced concrete, a system in which the load-bearing structure of the building consists of slabs, beams and columns. Apart from the load-bearing structure, however, our masonry is usually made of brick.
After an earthquake there is a possibility of cracks in the buildings and specifically in one of the above structural elements.


The solution

Cracking as well as fractures of our masonry except of the building aesthetic, can also cause severe static problems as they can affect the pillars, beams or slabs. In this case, the advice and assessment of the situation by an experienced engineer is necessary to solve the problem.
The materials that will be used to repair the cracks should be easy to fill as well as shrink to a minimum after their application.

Application steps

Crack drilling & cleaning
Check the crack and drill to a depth of 15-20cm vertically until you find a solid substrate. Remove loose and dust. There are cases where our masonry has been damaged in depth (up to the bricks). For best results, broken bricks should be removed and replaced with new ones.

Crack repair

If the harmful area affects the columns and beams of our construction then, the best solution for repairing and restoration is the fiber reinforced coating system of MARMOLINE. This consists of the first layer of MARMOLINE FK 202 a fiber-reinforced base coat mortar. Then, while the base coat is still fresh, proceed by pressing the MARMOLINE M160 fiberglass mesh of 160gr. Spread again the FK 202 to cover the fiberglass that we have already pressed.
If the harmful area does not come in contact with the columns and beams of our construction, then we should apply the base coat plaster of MARMOLINE SV 1 in thickness up to 4mm and cover it with repair plaster.


Regarding the plastering and the restoration of the damaged parts of our masonry, we should proceed with the application of the repair plaster of one layer of MARMOLINE SV 103 or with the application of the fast repair plaster of one layer MARMOLINE SV 101, for faster results, in thickness up to 2cm.
It is recommended in the case of application on the base plaster MARMOLINE SV 1 to reinforce the repair plasters SV 103 & SV 101 with fiberglass mesh.
For extremely smooth surfaces, apply the fine-grained acrylic putty of MARMOLINE, STUCCO BIANCO. The surface is smoothed with the spatula and the excess material is removed.
Then, we proceed to the priming of the surface, applying the water primer MST 11 of MARMOLINE, diluted up to 30% with water. We wait about 2 hours and when the primer dries, depending on the use, indoor or outdoor, we choose either the MARMOLINE FLYING COLORS INTERIOR or the MARMOLINE FLYING COLORS EXTERIOR with a coverage of about 12-14 m2 / lt depending on the substrate.
